Lexus wanted to break the mould when they designed their first luxury car, and shake off the impression that Japanese cars are all technology with no style. When challenged to produce the world’s best car by Eiji Toyada, the company developed the Lexus LS 400 and this launched with an advert showing champagne glasses on a revving car hood to demonstrate the smooth engine. The range expanded in the 1990s with the ES 250 and RX 300, their first SUV. The GS 300 also appeared, a mid-sized sports sedan, although it’s arguably the IS 200 that made the biggest impression, a car that competed directly with BMW and Audi in the executive car marketplace. These days they push forward with innovation with a range of hybrid vehicles. Discover luxury. Call 01865 326666, or come by our showroom Lodge Hill Garage in Abingdon, Oxfordshire
